The television star Walter Mercardo was a daily highlight of my early days. I thought he had an inimitable style that although seemingly impractical was imbued with real magic. Walter Mercado's clothing was embroidered with gold, silver and speckled with real jewels. Where civilians see opulence, spiritual workers see the wielding of power. Walter Mercado was a very gifted performer. I felt called to make this portrait as a tribute to his influence in my life. We met twice.
